Arthur Conan Doyle’s thrilling story comes to life in THE LOST WORLD (1925) - the first feature film ever to bring dinosaurs to the screen using groundbreaking stop-motion animation.

Professor Challenger, “one of the greatest minds in London, with the temper of a gorilla,” leads an expedition deep into the Amazon to prove that prehistoric creatures still exist. On a remote plateau the group discovers a lost world filled with dinosaurs, strange ape-men and a volcano on the brink of eruption.

The spectacular effects were created by Willis O’Brien, later famous for King Kong. The restored version screened at the festival also features historical colour techniques such as tinting and toning.

🎹 The Music
Electronic composer and media artist Ugress (Gisle Martens Meyer) performs a new live score for the film. Known for blending pop-electronica with playful reflections on technology and digital culture, Ugress has composed extensively for film, stage and games, and in recent years created several live scores for silent film classics.

The film is screened with English intertitles.

Arthur Conan Doyles spennende fortelling vekkes til live i THE LOST WORLD (1925) - den første spillefilmen som brakte dinosaurer til lerretet ved hjelp av banebrytende stop-motion-teknikk.

Professor Challenger, «en av Londons største hjerner, med temperamentet til en gorilla», leder en ekspedisjon dypt inn i Amazonas for å bevise at forhistoriske skapninger fortsatt eksisterer. På et isolert platå oppdager gruppen en tapt verden fylt med dinosaurer, mystiske ape-mennesker og en vulkan på randen av utbrudd.
