Stand Up Dance is part of Balancing Act’s The Art of Care pilot and looking at ways to support artist-careers. In the cast of ANATOMALIA there are 3 mothers of 4 children under the age of 5.

Join these dancers/working mothers who will share their experiences. 

We welcome a discussion that includes other dancers/working mothers. 

Working Mothers Dancing:

Mari Bø (Tromsø)
In this talk, I reflect on my experience of working as a dancer, choreographer, and a mother, and how these roles intersect in various ways. My practice unfolds through an ongoing negotiation between care, time, and bodily experience, where repetition, endurance and attention inform both movement and material. Motherhood has shifted my artistic perspective, reshaping how I approach presence, production, and sustainability. I am interested in what it means to sustain a practice while also sustaining others. 

Nicole Nigro (Berlin/Canada)
Nicole is a Berlin-based dance and theatre artist, facilitator, and mother whose performative work explores effort, inner landscapes, and intuition. Nigro creates performance installations that examine the contact between body, voice, and space, synthesizing dance, somatic, vocal, and physical theatre practices. Nicole is an advocate for the artist-parent dyad, promoting the inclusion and celebration of carers in the art world. She continues to pursue projects on the international level as she believes in the collective humanity born from cultural exchange. https://www.nicolebnigro.com/

Areli Moran Mayoral (Berlin/Mexico)
Areli Morán is a Mexican queer artist and producer living in Berlin and working internationally. Recently becoming a mother, she moves through a process of transformation shaped by tenderness, care, and the reorganization of time, body, and love. Her artistic practice unfolds as a space where creation and caregiving exist in dialogue.
