William North a long time resident of Duanesburg and founder of the Village of Esperance NY is the subject of this presentation covering his early life. 

Born in a Maine fort during the French and Indian War he recalled as a child helping his farther bring a keg of gun powder to the canons. After his father’s death his mother took him to live in Boston where he would have witnessed the events that brought on the Revolutionary War. The program will bring us to his experience at the reading of the new Declaration of Independence.

Ken Jones is the Town Historian of Esperance, NY and President of the Esperance Historical Society and Museum. He recently ended working part time training procurement staff at the University at Albany, SUNY where he is The Assistant Director Emeritus of that department and continues to train on the topic of procurement online for several online training companies. He is finishing a biography on Gen. William North.
