Basia Andrusko will lead you in an exploration of the art, symbolism and joy in writing Pysanky – Ukrainian Decorated Eggs. She will guide you in writing snowflake patterns on eggshells as you learn the age-old method of applying hot beeswax to an emptied chicken egg using a special tool, and then dipping the egg in a dye bath. These steps are repeated to create patterns and symbols. When the process is completed, the wax is melted off over a candle flame, revealing the hidden colors and designs. (Designs may vary ). The “pysanka” you create can be displayed on a stand, or hung as an ornament.
Additional kits and pysanky by Basia Andrusko will also be available for purchase.
