Welcome to the summer season of dancing in Traverse city, when we move outside to dance with the elements of nature.
In June we dance on the BEACH!
We meet the First and Third Tuesday of every month from 7:07PM-9:09PM
June 3 is a for MOMENTUM– It's the first quarter moon, a phase of increasing growth change, and movement. We look at how we have momentum in our lives and how to build it.
June 17 is the first of our VILLAGE dances this summer, which will occur on the third Tuesday of each month. We will practice how we can dance as one organism, as a complete village, each finding our part as soloists, in duets, trios, and small groups, and in the whole. We focus in June on Embodied Presence, or how our mind and body are doing the same thing at the same time.
The Senior Center has plenty of parking and a bathroom will be available.
IMPORTANT NOTE: you cannot turn left into the Senior Center if you are coming from the west. Instead turn left before the senior center at Sunset Park and just before the NMC Freshwater campus. You can drive through the NMC parking areas to get to the Senior Center. If you miss the turn, turn into one of the hotels and reverse direction. No biggie.

Each time we gather we begin by relaxing into our bodies and pausing to allow our full selves to arrive. Then we explore the theme in various ways - sharing, moving, playing - to prime ourselves for expression and weave our group together.
Dance is the main event. The hour-long playlist will carry you through an experience of gradual opening, energy building, transformation, release, integration, and rest.
The dance is for free-form expression of however you are in the moment. We practice letting go and letting come, in a consent-based space.
When the music is finished there will be time for optional sharing about anything that happened during the dance. Then we close and return to our lives, with more attunement to our bodies and ourselves.
Any form of dancing or movement is allowed as long as it is safe for everyone. All people of all sizes, types, and ages welcome.
Registration not required.
Pay as able $10-20 for each dance, Venmo @JStar-Williams or cash at the dance. A lot goes into the creation of this experience and everyone's contribution is needed to keep it going.
Things to consider bringing:
**Yourself exactly as you are
**Water
**Clothing that will keep your temperature comfortable and protect you from the elements
**Blanket or other ground covering for sitting and moving on
**Swimwear and towel for during or after the dance.
**If you feel moved to do so: something to share: poem, song, snack, a beautiful item, rattle, etc.
Take care of yourself. You are responsible for your well-being.
Check in with yourself often to make sure everything you are doing feels good to you. It can be easy to get overwhelmed or follow the group when you really would be more comfortable with something else. It is always okay to do something different if it will feel more supportive for you. Take responsibility for your experience, including by letting Jeanie know if you have a suggestion or need support around something.
