'Sea Monster' by Hannah Murray
This new body of work has been developed in response to North Queensland’s tropical environment. Drawing on encounters with the Great Barrier Reef, Hannah Murray has reimagined reef fish, shells, orchids and other flora and fauna as “mythical sea treasures,” transforming them into surreal, symbolic presences.

'New Sensation' by Lauren Jaye Carter
In 'New Sensation', Lauren Jaye Carter pushes the increasingly ubiquitous technology of AI to its limits through attempting to elicit sensory memory. This latest series of analogue print collages responds to fictitious perfume descriptions generated in collaboration with AI tool, ChatGPT. Using conventional linocut and monoprint techniques, the works are inspired by the three-tiered structure of fragrance - top, heart, and base notes - and the intersection of colour, scent and abstraction. Balancing sensory perception with material experimentation and digital imagination, Lauren Jaye Carter highlights how AI-generated language can serve as a catalyst for new visual and conceptual investigations.
