This class is the rarest class we offer, as we need a ton of snow to teach this topic. Mother Nature has been generous with the snow this season so let's take advantage of the situation! Snow shelters are a life saving winter survival skill that is essential for anyone wishing to enjoy the outdoors for long periods of time. Beleive it or not, snow is very insulative and snow shelters are a lot warmer than the outside air. With the proper knowledge, you can create a cozy and warm shelter in less than 1 day!What to bring:Sturdy snow shovelProper warm layers for digging in the snowDrinking water/lunch/snacksWarm gloves or mittensClass will include the entire process of creating a proper 1-2 person snow shelter. Location selection, snow types, the foundation, shoveling, packing, digging out the bed area, and creating a bed area with natural materials. All ages welcome. We will have a campfire nearby to warm up if needed. Class will be taught by Tim Swanson, founder and lead instructor of Owl Eyes Wilderness Survival, who lived in a snow shelter for 10 days in the mountains of Wyoming.Class is dependent on cold weather and snow. Cold weather will not cause class to cancel. We will have a campfire and hot bevewrages accesible for the duration of the class. If weather affects driving safety, we will cancel class.
