Through various encounters with nature, it builds a reflexive picture of how to navigate the unknown, to see and tread new paths that are already present but unseen. It requires immersing within and finding our way in response to what is actually happening. This is a radical act that goes against standardised protocols, habitual reactions, and our love of pre-planning, management and control. Economic practice then becomes a way of seeing, revealing, guiding and intensifying the hidden potentials within society.Dr. Julie Richardson is a writer, teacher and practitioner of different approaches to economics, influenced by her lifelong practice of economics in different countries and across many different branches of economics, including mainstream and alternative approaches. Most recently she has pioneered a new, entangled approach to economic thinking and practice rooted in direct experience rather than being governed by abstract models and theories. She is Vice Chair of the Sharpham Trust and was Head of Economics at Schumacher College and then Director of Schumacher Worldwide.
