Our series invites readers and audience members to think about "fear" in our world(s), who gets to be afraid, what precisely we fear, and where that comes from. For this iteration, we are guided by poet and performance artist Fargo Tbakhi's "In the Knowledge That You Will Die, and I Will Die," from his debut poetry collection , and have invited our readers to respond to the above themes, as well as Tbakhi's offering, in their works for the evening.
What’s haunting you? What are you running from? What are we grieving and allowing to die? What must die for something else to live? Is this knowledge of our death(s) alienating, or freeing? How are we "stumbling," as Fargo says, “along toward death”? Is death alienating, or do we do that to one another, before we go? How then can we be, as Toni Morrison says, “good ghosts”?
Alongside hosts, cultural workers, poets, and friends, Natalie Wee and Furqan Mohamed, readers Knowah Holder, ej kneifel, Esmé Hogeveen, Hadiyyah Kuma, Zoe Imani Sharpe, and Bahar Orang will be sharing poetry, prose, and more. Wares by the talented artist angel_.touch._pottery._ and others will be available for purchase during the evening. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the .
