Because spots are limited, we just ask that you reach out to help us ensure that everyone claiming a ticket is genuinely planning to attend.---This playful and interactive StoryWalk® and collective reading of Walking Together (Annick Press, 2023) will introduce participants to the concept of Etuaptmumk (Eh-doo-aph-de-mumk), the gift of multiple perspectives in the Mi’kmaw language. This is also known as Two-Eyed Seeing: braiding the strengths of Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives for the benefit of all, including our eco-kin.Co-authored by Elder Albert D. Marshall (Mi’kma’ki) and Louise Zimanyi (French-Canadian/Hungarian), and illustrated by Emily Kewageshig (Saugeen First Nation) the story follows a group of young children connecting to and with nature as teacher, nurturing respectful, reciprocal and responsible relationships.Participants will meet Painted Turtle, Green Frog, River, and Monarch Butterfly as they engage in the Storywalk while deepening their relationship with the waters and land on the traditional homelands of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabek Confederacies.---Everyone is welcome: This walk is free and open to all.Dress for the weather: This walk will take place entirely outdoors, and is about 30 minutes in length. Please check the weather ahead of time and dress appropriately.Meeting location: Participants will receive an email detailing the meeting location.Getting Here: the Brick Works is accessible by our free shuttle bus, bike, TTC, through the surrounding trail systems, and by car (parking is paid).
