- **Event Description**: Join us for an afternoon of performances by In The Mood Magazine’s community of writers in response to films from Reel Asian’s archives!About this Event and present: VOICE OVERFor this event, we’ve curated 4 films from Reel Asian’s archives, to which 4 writers from In The Mood Mag’s community and 1 musician will respond live. But the catch is: none of the artists will have seen the films we’ve selected until it’s screened for them and the audience ?This program is all about our instinctive reactions to film, those messy and brilliant gut feelings that risk being ironed out with too much time to think.VOICE OVER will consist of the following format:1. A screening of a short experimental film (5-10 minutes)2. Live musical accompaniment by Jaz Tsui (10 minutes) while a writer works on their ekphrastic response to the film3. The writer will perform their short piece for the audience (5 minutes)And repeat!Summer is for surprise and spontaneity, and for finding respite from the heat in a cool, dark screening room. ? It will be a space of play, experimentation, and cross-medium conversation!Featuring performances by:EJ KneifelFurqan MohamedAlexander MooneyDhvani RamanujamJaz TsuiIn response to short films by:Oliver HusainMeesoo LeeLesley Loksi ChanConstant Yen--- is an expansive film criticism journal that delves into film, TV, music videos, and celebrity culture through personal essays, conversations, and unconventional forms of criticism like poetry, diaries, and visual art.TACLA (tacla.ca) is a critical commons that publishes collaborative and interdisciplinary critical writing to activate Asian Canadian archival and contemporary artwork, film and literature.
