1) Bill Gilliam
Bill is a Toronto-based composer and pianist who creates and improvises experimental new musical compositions blending contemporary music and jazz idioms, incorporating his unique style of extended piano techniques and electronics. His recordings include: "Marbyllia – Uncountable Spheres" (2023) with Margaret Maria; "Outside the Maze" (2023) and "Light Through Dark" (2021) with Eugene Martynec and Bill McBirnie; "Counterstasis – Refracted Voices" (2019) with Glen Hall and Joe Sorbara; "Entangled Pathways" (2017) with Kayla Milmine and Ambrose Pottie; his solo piano album "Ensorcell" (2012); and more.
As a pianist and improviser, he has performed at many Ontario festivals and venues presenting experimental music. His recent projects include collaborations and performances with improvisers in his ongoing "Art of Improv" series, co-hosted with Eugene Martynec, and the upcoming release of a second album this year with cellist Margaret Maria in their duo, Marbyllia.
For this Track Could Bend solo performance, Bill welcomes the opportunity to experiment with creating electroacoustic improvisations to animate his "Imaginary Familiars" spoken-word poems and other abstract sound narratives.

3) Tap slap wind and light
Four new elements join forces!
Tap - two feet echoing through amplification and tape heads
Slap - two hands, a guitar and a wah wah
Wind - two lungs using the original instrument with beeps and boops
two more lungs blowing through a highway of reed, metal, and wood; the bass clarinet
Light - mind to hand playing with the absence of darkness and its many forms turned to illusion by paper and puppetry

Let's be careful and considerate in the performance space! Please consider wearing a mask when not performing/imbibing.
