They are also dynamic sites for cultural and artistic expression. On this tour, we'll explore the 70+ year history of public art in Toronto’s transit landscape, from station architecture and design, to forgotten tilework of the 1950s, to the contemporary murals of today.About the Tour LeaderLogan Warner (he/him) is a heritage scholar and museum professional from Toronto. Drawn to the lived histories of material culture, Logan has managed museum, archives, archaeology, and architecture collections for governmental agencies and heritage organizations like the Ontario Heritage Trust and Royal Ontario Museum. His academic research in Archaeology of the Contemporary Past examines memory embedded in modern belongings and surroundings, often relating to public works and infrastructure. Logan received a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology from Trent University.Start Point: Northwest corner of Queen St and University Ave (160 Queen St W)Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check-in. Feel free to call us at (647) 542-3450 if you are having trouble finding the start location.End Point: Cedarvale Station (1535 Eglinton Ave)Length of Tour: Approximately 90 minutesTour Information: This subway tour will travel by train along Line 1 Yonge-University (Osgoode to Yorkdale) with stops occurring within various stations upon disembarking. Participants will not be exiting the subway system in the middle of the tour. Participants are required to pay the TTC fare.Ticket Price and Registration: This tour is provided for $8.00/person. The total cost is $10.05 (includes a $2.05 transaction fee). Please note that space is limited on our tours. You may not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time. Cash cannot be accepted onsite.This tour uses individual audio headsets.
