NSBEHacks Uoft

NSBEHacks is the first university student-run black hackathon in the GTA. It is a 12-hour fun-filled hackathon hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers UofT Chapter.

What is a hackathon?
An event, typically lasting several days, in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming in order to create a unique technical project.

You do not need to code to go to a hackathon! To build a successful project, developers are not the only people needed. People who know user experience or design and business and people who know how to solve problems and possess creative minds are essential to building a great project and bring a team much closer to winning prizes!

Our mission for the hackathon is to help equal the footing for black students within Canada by placing them in a comfortable environment where they’re allowed to be creative and innovative, and also affording them opportunities for personal and career development through the help of our trusted partners, workshops and mentors. Hackathons can usually seem like unaccessible, unfriendly spaces for black participants and we want to alleviate this problem!

Our applications for the event are live! If you ever wanted to learn how to code, have a project for your portfolio, network and access job opportunities with amazing tech companies and meet other talented black people in tech, NSBEHacks is the event for you!

Free food, free swag, prizes and surprises ALL DAY LONG! We only have limited spots available. We will stop accepting applications on January 12th 2019.
