About this EventProgram ArrangementsThis session will provide a comprehensive, hands-on exploration of current Ministry expectations and best practices for implementing Culminating Tasks within Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) programs.
Session ObjectivesParticipants will:
- Review Ministry expectations for identifying and recording Milestones and/or Culminating Tasks.
- Explore the new Culminating Task and Milestone Guidelines Explainer and Practitioner Guide.
- Share examples of how to design and deliver Culminating Tasks using the Reverse Binder Approach.
- Engage in group activities with table peers to:
- Develop learner plans
- Plan learning activities
- Prepare curriculum
- Engage in OGAT assessment
- Map the learning journey leading to the Culminating Task
- Participate in guided discussion, planning, and Q&A sessions to promote consistent implementation across programs.
New ResourcesThroughout the program, participants will be introduced to new resources and practical tools designed to strengthen the implementation of Culminating Tasks, Milestones, and Ongoing Assessment (OGAT).
Opportunities will be provided to explore Task-Based Activities, Online Courses for Learners, and additional materials that support innovative instructional planning.
By the End of the Session, Practitioners Will Be Able To:- Identify and assign a Culminating Task at the start of a learner’s program.
- Develop a clear work plan with all required components.
- Understand how to properly use and report Milestones and Culminating Tasks.
- Become familiar with Ongoing Assessment Tools (OGAT).
- Document results accurately in CaMS.
- Use Culminating Tasks strategically to support learner pathways and program reporting.
