This one-hour workshop is an introduction to the basic fundamentals of violin taught in a group setting led by Tyra Sweet. Violins and accessories will be provided to all registrants. The cost of the class is $25 (HST included) and can be paid via e-transfer. The class will take place in Trinity Bellwoods - exact address TBD. Tyra Sweet is a violin and viola teacher based in Toronto, Ontario. Originally from Oakville, Tyra began taking violin lessons at the age of 3 with the Oakville Suzuki Association. At age 8 Tyra began playing the viola as well.
Tyra has acted as Principal Violist for the Halton Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Academy Chamber Orchestra. She was also one of five young artists selected to play with the Oakville Symphony Orchestra and acted as Assistant Principal Violist during her time with the orchestra.
Tyra spent two years training in the Young Artists Performance Academy, now known as The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists, at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. While there she studied with University of Toronto Professor, Katharine Rapoport.
In 2007 Tyra took “Every Child Can” – a teacher development course with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Since then Tyra has been teaching students from age 4-adult. She has also taught group lessons and coached chamber ensembles at the Oakville Suzuki Association Performing Arts Camp.
