Learning to paddle together and connecting with the community on the water
Imagine gliding along the Humber River in big canoes and kayaks, paddles dipping into the water, laughter carrying across the river — all alongside an incredible group of people living with Type 1 diabetes.
The Humber River Paddle is a relaxed, welcoming day event designed for connection, confidence, and shared experience on the water. Whether you’re excited to try paddling for the first time or you’ve spent plenty of time in a canoe or kayak before, this is a supportive, low-pressure opportunity to get outside and explore together.
All skill levels are welcome. Instructors and Connected in Motion staff will be there throughout the afternoon to help everyone feel comfortable, supported, and confident — from getting settled in the boats to finding a pace that feels right.
This isn’t just about paddling. It’s about stepping into a shared experience with people who understand the highs, lows, and in-between moments of living with Type 1 diabetes. It’s a reminder that community matters — and that when we move together, we build confidence not only outdoors, but in life with diabetes as well.
