Very common in Europe, adoption here in Canada has been slower, but today most heating/cooling companies now promote them. The big challenge is that when a gas furnace dies - usually on a cold winter day - the only same-day replacement is another gas furnace. If your gas furnace is 10+ years old, best to get quotes now on a heat pump, and consider making the switch sooner than later.
