About Camila Salcedo
Camila Salcedo is a Venezuelan-born, Tkaronto-based interdisciplinary artist working in textiles, community art and curation. Her work is interdisciplinary in nature, but her focus remains consistently on community engagement and sustainable textile practices, and their potential to serve as methods of self-expression, community building, and reflection of global issues such as the climate crisis, and migration.
She has a decade of experience teaching textiles and professional development practices primarily to emerging artists, queer youth and BIPOC seniors across Toronto. Some of her partners have been: the Toronto Public Library’s branches, Toronto’s LASOs, East End Arts, Lakeshore Arts, and Urban Arts, and Museums, the Bata Shoe Museum and the Textile Museum of Canada.
