Led by guitarist Ben Copland Gilbert, this bilingual group fuses alternative and progressive rock with rap, jazz and metal, sounding powerful and virtuosic both in performance and on recordings. Improvisation gives way to cutting rap verses, only to be swept away by soaring vocals over heavy guitar riffs, leading to a music that often surprises. Available in several ensembles, combining a variable brass section with an ensemble of vocals, guitar, synthesizer, bass and drums, Cope Land always captivates with its driving rhythms, intensity, and dynamics. The band has been lucky enough to grace many Canadian festivals, most notably a main stage performance at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and Festival Vue sur la Relève.
