Join us at Another Story Bookshop on Friday Oct 17th at 7pm, for a Brick Books double Book Launch for Anna Swanson (Garbage Poems) and Charlie Petch (Infinite Audition). Joining them will be Cass Myers / My'z who will be bringing some of their incredible creations and poems, and Qurat Dar, writer of "Non-Prophet", from Icehouse Poetry. This will be an event for all senses, including nonsense. Hosted by Alayna Munce, and housed at Another Story, this will be an incredible night for poetry, and it's free!

Qurat Dar (she/they) is the author of Non-Prophet (icehouse poetry 2025) for which she received the inaugural Claire Harris Prize. She was the City of Mississauga’s third Youth Poet Laureate and a Canadian Individual Poetry Slam National Champion. Qurat’s poems have appeared in Augur, EVENT, Arc Poetry Magazine, and across the TTC network.

ANNA SWANSON (she/her) is a queer writer and librarian. The Garbage Poems (Brick Books, 2025) is her second collection of poetry. Her first book, The Nights Also (Tightrope Books, 2010), won the Gerald Lampert Award and a Lambda Literary Award.She recently completed an MFA at the University of Guelph and lives in St. John’s on the island of Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland), where she works as a public librarian and a poetry editor for Riddle Fence Magazine. Cassandra Myers (My’z) (they/she/he) is an award winning poet, performer, dancer, illustrator, and counselor from Tkaronto, Ontario. As a queer, non-binary, South-Asian-Italian, crip, mad, survivor of sexual violence, Cassandra’s work has won national literary and spoken word titles including the National Magazine GOLD Award in Poetry and Champion of the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. CHARLIE PETCH (they/he) is a disabled transmasculine multidisciplinary artist. Their debut poetry collection, “Why I Was Late” (Brick Books), won the 2022 ReLit Award, and was named “Best of 2021” by The Walrus. Their new poetry book “Infinite Audition” launched in Fall 2025 with Brick Books. Petch received a Golden Beret Spoken Word Prize from the League of Canadian Poets. Their play “No one’s special at the hot dog cart” debuted in 2024 with Theatre Passe Muraille and Public Energy. They write plays, librettos, poems, and music and perform their work for audiences all over Turtle Island.
