Explorez le Parc Downsview dans le cadre d’un programme nature gratuit.About this EventThursday, July 16, 2026A Batty Adventure with the Toronto Zoo’s Bat Conservation program.Join Alex Israel, MSc (Field Conservation Steward - Bat Conservation Program) for an indoor talk and followed by outdoor walk to explore the fascinating world of bats.We will begin with an indoor presentation before heading outdoors - so come learn about these amazing creatures before heading on an evening nature walk through Downsview Park. While a variety of creatures come out at night - this program will focus on nocturnal, flying mammals - BATS and how scientists study them.While we may not encounter bats on the walk, you'll learn lots of tips and tricks to help find them in the summer. You'll also get the chance to see some of the equipment used to track bats. And who knows what nighttime urban critters we may encounter along the way!So, pack your head lamps and flashlights and come on down for an evening of urban nature.The indoor portion will include an introduction to the various bat species found in Ontario, the threats they face, and why we should be concerned about them, followed by an exploration of how the Toronto Zoo’s Bat Conservation Program is working to help them, and some of the success stories to date. The Toronto Zoo’s Bat Conservation Program is one of the zoo's Field Conservation programs doing "boots on the ground" conservation to keep wild species on the map in Ontario. This program is for open to participants of all ages.Pets are not permitted at this program. Service animals are always welcome.Please note this program is intended for individuals and families. Vous pourrez donc en apprendre sur ces petites bêtes formidables avant de faire la promenade nocturne dans le Parc Downsview. S’il est vrai que diverses créatures sortent la nuit, ce programme est principalement consacré aux mammifères volants nocturnes, les chauves-souris, et à l’étude qu’en font les scientifiques!Vous ne verrez peut-être pas de chauves-souris sur votre parcours, mais vous apprendrez beaucoup de trucs et d’astuces pour les trouver à l’été. Vous aurez également l’occasion de voir certains des équipements utilisés pour détecter et suivre les chauves-souris. Et qui sait quelles créatures urbaines nocturnes nous pourrions rencontrer en chemin!Alors, emportez vos lampes frontales et vos lampes de poche et venez passer une soirée de nature urbaine.La conférence à l’intérieur comprend une description des diverses espèces de chauves-souris que l’on trouve en Ontario, les menaces auxquelles elles font face et les raisons pour lesquelles nous devrions nous en préoccuper. Cet exposé sera suivi d’une présentation des efforts et de réussites connues du Programme de conservation des chauves-souris du zoo de Toronto. Ce dernier est l’un des programmes concrets de rétablissement des espèces mis en place par le zoo pour conserver les espèces sauvages dans le paysage de l’Ontario. L’activité convient à tous les âges.Les animaux domestiques ne sont pas autorisés dans le cadre de ce programme. Les animaux d’assistance sont toujours bienvenus.Veuillez noter que ce programme s’adresse aux particulier·ère·s et aux familles. Les groupes organisés doivent effectuer une réservation ici.Les activités sont destinées à un public de tout âge; les participants de moins de 16 ans doivent être accompagnés d’un adulte.Ce programme éducatif est fièrement soutenu par le Groupe Banque TD.Un service en français est disponible sur demande.
