SENT Inc., Hoppe Development, Mesner Development Co., and the Topeka Housing Authority are proud to invite the community to the groundbreaking ceremony for Johnson-Betts Meadows, a new 176-unit affordable housing development designed to expand housing stability and opportunity for Low-to-Moderate Income families in Topeka.

This event is proudly co-hosted by The Greater Topeka Partnership.

Johnson-Betts Meadows represents more than new housing. It is part of a broader vision for long-term neighborhood transformation through housing, healthcare access, workforce development, wraparound support services, and sustainable community investment.

The development will provide:
• 176 affordable rental housing units
• Housing opportunities for families earning 60% or below Area Median Income
• High-quality, community-centered design
• Long-term affordability through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC)

The project is named in honor of Pamela Johnson-Betts, a lifelong advocate for housing equity, public service, education, and underserved communities whose leadership has left a lasting impact on Topeka.

Why this matters:
The ALICE Report shows that nearly 39% of Kansas households struggle to afford basic necessities, including housing. In Senate District 19, that number rises to more than 50% of families. Johnson-Betts Meadows is designed to help address that growing affordability gap while creating stronger foundations for family stability and long-term community wellbeing.

This project is being developed through partnership and collaboration between:
• SENT Inc.
• Hoppe Development
• Mesner Development Co.
• Topeka Housing Authority

SENT Inc. is also actively seeking mission-aligned partners and investors interested in helping shape the next phase of development surrounding Johnson-Betts Meadows.

Specifically, SENT is seeking partners to help develop 7 acres of adjacent commercial property. SENT is willing to donate the land in exchange for a Community Benefits Plan that strengthens wraparound services and long-term opportunity for the neighborhood.
