He met Swami Muktananda in August 1975, received Shaktipat initiation, and spent the next eight years immersed in sadhana in Muktananda’s ashrams.During this period, he practiced Siddha Yoga and studied Kashmir Shaivism and Vedanta. In 1980, he received Sanyasa Diksha and was given the name Brahmananda. The following year, Swami Muktananda instructed him to establish an ashram in Los Angeles, which became Siddha Meditation Center Los Angeles. He was later appointed National Coordinator of SYDA Centers and Ashrams in the United States, overseeing 35 ashrams and 350 meditation centers.Brahmananda has traveled to more than 75 countries and has been deeply active in interfaith ministry.
