Join DownsSteam’s Jeff Smith on a leisurely train trip through the many tunnels, Spring Bluff station and the Toowoomba bypass. Jeff will provide commentary as you travel on the Westlander (diesel train) from Toowoomba to Helidon which is followed by a coach trip to Toowoomba, visiting St Luke’s and St Matthew’s Church, the Royal Bulls Head Inn and DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum.

Toowoomba Train Station 6:45am - Railway Street, Toowoomba
Every 1st Thursday of the month
Cost: $100 per person
Includes continental breakfast on the train, morning tea and a light lunch
Entrance fees and return transport to Toowoomba Station
Limited to 24 seats
As this a Queensland Rail operational train, tickets must be booked through DownsSteam Office - please phone 46302358 Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday.
Trip itinerary:
• Board the Westlander train at the main Toowoomba Station at 6:45am for departure promptly at 7am. Enjoy a continental breakfast of cereal, fruit, juice, tea and coffee on the train.
• Disembark at Helidon Station and board a bus to Toowoomba
• St Luke’s Church
• Royal Bulls Head Inn – hosted by Sharon with morning tea and guest poet
• St Matthew’s Church
• DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum – enjoy a tour of the precinct and a light lunch, prepared by our onsite Café Loco
• Return to Toowoomba Railway Station (approximately 2-2:30pm)
Please note: As the Westlander is an operating passenger train, there may be times when Queensland Rail will cancel the train trip for unplanned track maintenance work or weather conditions. If this impacts the Mountains and Tunnels trip, you will be contacted by phone to arrange either a refund or to rebook the excursion.
