Step aboard our meticulously restored heritage passenger train and journey through Toowoomba along a rail line steeped in history. Hear the rhythmic beat of Toowoomba’s own steam engine as it pulls you along the tracks, offering a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era. With comfortable seating and panoramic windows, you'll enjoy views of the Toowoomba city. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a railway aficionado, or simply seeking a unique adventure, our Carnival Special to Drayton steam train trip promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.

Ticket also includes entry to the DownsSteam Station and there will be free tours at the Drayton station. Our visitor souvenir shop and cafe will be open and a sausage sizzle will be operating.

The total experience will last approximately 120 minutes, with a return trip to Toowoomba Station expected back at around 3:45pm.

DownsSteam is a community organisation, run by volunteers, dedicated to the establishment of a tourist heritage railway for the Darling Downs. DownsSteam was formed to preserve and restore the last remaining steam locomotive built at the historic Toowoomba Foundry Company, C16-106 Southern Cross Works No 28 circa 1914. Along with our two steam locomotives C16-106, and BB18¼ 1037, we have also restored the former Commissioner’s Inspection Railmotor. Not only are you able to wander through our historic station and go on a precinct tour (including our exceptional Dreamtime Carriage), we also run rail trips to various towns on the Downs. Check our website for trip schedules, pricing and to purchase tickets. Every 3rd Saturday of the month, we hold an open day with a sausage sizzle, live music and often free heritage bus rides. "
