Formerly used exclusively by the Queensland Railway Executive to tour and inspect the railway network, these iconic railmotors now offer a unique opportunity for passengers to travel in style and comfort. Passengers can sit directly behind the driver watching the track ahead though the panoramic widescreen to feel the excitement of being at the heart of the action as you traverse through the scenic countryside.

Our meticulously restored, air-conditioned railmotors ensure that every moment of your journey is as delightful as it is memorable. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a unique adventure, our railway tours offer an unforgettable experience.

For travellers seeking a premium rail experience, the choice between Commissioner Class and Executive Class offers distinct advantages tailored to different preferences and needs. Whether indulging in luxury and privacy with Commissioner Class's lounge chairs and private dining area, or prioritising versatility and productivity with Executive Class's reversible seats and onboard boardroom, passengers can select the class that best suits their travel style and priorities with ample space to move around.

Meandering through the rolling hills of the Darling Downs, passengers will get a glimpse into the regions pioneering past with views across the fertile plains that are home to diverse agricultural production ranging from cattle and pigs to cereal crops, sunflowers and honey.

If you think of a quintessential country town streetscape you’ve got Clifton in mind. Dating back to 1875, this classic little town halfway between Toowoomba and Warwick has been used as a background for a number of Australian films and television series, with the most recent production being the Australian television series ‘Wanted’.

Railmotor 2032 has an onboard kitchenette for passengers to purchase snacks and light refreshments during the tour.

The total rail experience will last approximately 4.5 hours including lunch. However we encourage guests to arrive early and enjoy our railway precinct before and after the trip.

The ticket also includes museum entry, passengers may tour the precinct before or after their journey and view many of the great attractions DownsSteam has to offer.

Off Train Experience - Clifton Pub Lunch (Included)
On arrival in the picturesque country town of Clifton, passengers will disembark the railmotors for a gentle walk down the road to the O'Shanley's Irish Hotel for a little piece of Ireland in country Australia.

2 - course lunch with alternate drop of Battered Barra or Schnitzel for mains and alternate drop of Sticky Date or Cheesecake for desert. Irish Stew is available for Gluten Free passengers by request when booking.

Please Note:
• Drinks are NOT included at O'Shanleys but are available for purchase.
• O'Shanleys has a gluten free meal option available by request, but is unable to cater for other special dietary requirements or food allergies.
• Passengers are strongly encouraged to wear flat, comfortable shoes as the experience will be held outdoors on varying surfaces including gravel, grass and some uneven walkways.

Please plan to arrive at Toowoomba Railway Station at least 30 minutes before departure.

Please be advised that there is a low level country platform at Clifton Station. Upon arrival, passengers will be required to use stairs to exit the Railmotor. Thank you for your understanding.

Onboard toilets are available on both railmotors.

Concession fares are not available for this trip.

Light refreshments and snacks are also available for purchase from the Drayton station café and the visitor souvenir shop will also be open before the tour.

We will endeavour to honour advance seating requests, however, we cannot guarantee any particular seat. We reserve the right to assign or reassign seats at any time, even after boarding the train. This may be necessary for operational, safety, security or other reasonable reasons.
