His early teachers were his father Shri Sadashiv Bakre and Dr. Ram Deshpande, with whom he learnt for 10 years in the Gurukul tradition.Nishad ji is an awardee of the NCPA's Kesarbai Kerkar Scholarship (2003), Government of India's National Scholarship for Young Artistes (2003-04), Kanebuwa Pratishthan's Yuva Puraskar, Acharya Shrikrishna Ratanjankar Puraskar (2008), and the Gyana Pravah Scholarship (2008-09).Shri Pandurang Toravi is a Melbourne based, All India Radio graded Tabla player and teacher. He learnt his craft from the legendary Pt. Basavaraj Bendigeri of Dharwad for 10 years, with initial training from Shri Rajaguru Kallurkar.
