For one special day during Watershed Weekend, the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge becomes a car-free community space where people take the place of traffic and Toledo meets in the middle.

River Crossing Day transforms the bridge into an Open Streets style celebration of outdoor recreation, movement and community connection. Visitors can walk, bike, roll and explore freely across the bridge while enjoying a wide range of hands-on activities taking place along the Glass City Riverwalk, on both riverbanks and on the water.

Metroparks Toledo will feature interactive outdoor skills experiences like rock climbing, paddling, archery, mountain biking, tree climbing and much more. Community partners including Imagination Station, Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, the City of Toledo and others will also host activities and demonstrations throughout the event.

From outdoor recreation to family-friendly fun and exploration, River Crossing Day invites the entire community to experience the riverfront in a new way, connecting neighborhoods, parks and people along the Maumee River.

This signature Watershed Weekend event celebrates Toledo’s growing riverfront and the shared spaces that bring the city together.
