They met playing in doom-folk ensemble Slug Milk sometime in 2017. The duo seeks to reimagine their medieval sound world through improvised musical dialogue. Their improvisations can feel like a white-knuckle ride; ranging from calm to chaotic, they work up to a frantic pace, pushing themselves to a point they can barely hold. Their performances have a distinct flavour due to the simple, tonal harmonies that their ancient instruments can produce. Recently, Resonant Bodies have supported Shovel Dance Collective at EartH, were part of Sonorities Festival (Belfast), and were selected for a prestigious Britten Pears Artist Residency in 2026.Sullow are an improvising trio, featuring Jacken Elswyth, Daniel S. Evans, and Joshua Barfoot of Shovel Dance Collective. Inflected and informed by the traditional music they mutate within the larger group, they negotiate an improvisation that has been variably described as ‘farmyard’ and ‘rodeo’. Repeated patterns rise and fall in quick attacks, short decays and dense bursts of momentary composition. For this show, Resonant Bodies and Sullow will join forces to form an improvising quintet, blending the styles of the two groups. This quintet had its debut performance at The Horse Hospital, London in April 2025JULIANA DAYJuliana Day is a recorder player, whistle player, and vocalist based in Sheffield, UK, whose work spans performance, composition, and creative collaboration. She leads several projects and has received composition and recording commissions from Making Tracks, the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music, and the University of Sheffield. Her solo project explores a haunting blend of low recorders, whistles, vocalisations, found sounds, and field recordings, creating looped layers and ambient, improvised textures. She was commissioned by the Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music to write and record her debut solo album, released on the Northern label New Jazz and Improvised Recordings, and by Making Tracks to transcribe and record humpback whale song - a work later adapted and performed on their UK tour. Juliana co-directs Emergence Collective; performs as a duo with Tom Harris, using reclaimed steel plates, springs, and water vessels as resonators for low recorders, whistles, voice, tapes, and synths; and collaborates with experimental harpist Manon McCoy, who also features on her album "lull". - **Event URL**: https://allevents.in/todmorden/resonant-bodies-x-sullow-juliana-day/100001857839019519 - **Event Categories**: music, entertainment, festivals, art, nonprofit, music-festivals, live-music, jazz, rodeo - **Interested Audience**: - total_interested_count: 0 ## Ticket Details - **Ticket Price Range**: min: 0, max: 0, currency: GBP ## Event venue details - **city**: Todmorden - **state**: EN - **country**: United Kingdom - **location**: Nan Moor's - **lat**: 53.7123672 - **long**: -2.0987924 - **full address**: Nan Moor's, 18 Rochdale Road, Todmorden, United Kingdom ## Event gallery - **Alt text**: RESONANT BODIES X SULLOW + JULIANA DAY - **Image URL**: https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/d36dc8f0c863466e0f3a93355c18c1c76a0ddb049f636ebcae59b8446c027c8b-rimg-w1200-h1698-dcffffff-gmir.jpg?v=1761909746 ## FAQs - **Q**: When and where is RESONANT BODIES X SULLOW + JULIANA DAY being held? - **A:** RESONANT BODIES X SULLOW + JULIANA DAY takes place on Sun, 23 Nov, 2025 at 04:00 pm to Sun, 23 Nov, 2025 at 06:00 pm at Nan Moor's, 18 Rochdale Road, Todmorden, United Kingdom. - **Q**: Who is organizing RESONANT BODIES X SULLOW + JULIANA DAY? - **A:** RESONANT BODIES X SULLOW + JULIANA DAY is organized by Nan Moor's. - **Q**: Who is this event for?
