The course of true love never did run smooth.”
The Hippodrome Youth Theatre are delighted to invite you on a brand-new adventure as they present a fast-paced, abridged version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, told in two lively acts of 45 minutes, and set in a contemporary world.
This production marks the first performance in our new youth scheme, The Bard @ Todhip — created to give local young people the chance to explore Shakespeare and all aspects of theperforming arts right here in their home town.
Join us as Demetrius, Lysander, Helena and Hermia flee Athens for the moonlit woods. There, alongside a band of enthusiastic amateur actors, they fall under the spell of the mischievous fairy Puck — tumbling into a magical dream world where illusion and reality are hilariously confused.
The production is directed by Elizabeth Holland, whose passion for Shakespeare has previously brought his plays to the Hippodrome stage with adult members of Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society.
A feast of magic, mischief and mayhem — perfect for audiences aged 7+.
