- **Event Description**: Let’s Build Snowshoes!   Linn County Conservation will offer the opportunity for you to build a pair of traditional snowshoes led by Naturalist Chuck Ungs.  You can use these sets for hiking, decorations, or unique gifts.   Participants must register on-line and pay the $10 registration fee by November 25 at 4 p.m. to hold a spot in the course. The remainder is due by check made out to Linn County Treasurer prior to the 4 PM deadline on Dec. 1, so we can order the kits. The remaining cost is $225 per kit. The $235 total class fee includes the cost of a snowshoe kit, a binding set and varnish for each participant.

The evening weaving sessions are held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on December 9, 11, and 18 at the Wickiup Hill Learning Center. Additional sessions will be needed to varnish the shoes at the Linn County Conservation Department Services Shop at 1891 Prospect Drive, Marion (near the corner of Highway 13 and County Home Road) in the week or so following snowshoe construction and between the Holidays. 

Attendance at all three lacing sessions is highly recommended for best results. Kit building typically requires the manual dexterity of someone high school age or older. Class size is limited to 6.   For more details and questions about options, call Chuck Ungs at 319-892-6485.
