Plus will be fully decoated for Christmas. This photo-walk will take place on Thursday 20th November at 11:00am, with limited minibus transport available from Exeter over to Knightshayes.We’ve partnered with the National Trust for this photo-walk, celebrating their stewardship of Knightshayes and their commitment to preserving its natural and cultural heritage.Header Images: Knightshayes Court, Devon © Lucid Gypsy, Rod Allday & John HowardABOUT KNIGHTSHAYESKnightshayes has a rich and varied history, beginning in 1868 when Sir John Heathcoat-Amory commissioned the architect William Burges to create Knightshayes Court. It was the only complete country house Burges ever designed. With its Victorian Gothic style, carved gargoyles and fantastical beasts, the house remains impressive. During the Second World War, Knightshayes became a USAAF rest home for the American Air Force, and has seen many changes since.The house is a rare example of the work of William Burges, whose lavish designs have always inspired extremes of opinion. Full of quirks and curiosities, it is a house of many faces.The formal and woodland garden is one of the finest and most varied plant collections in the country. With over 1200 plant species unique to Knightshayes and an ever changing display, it’s always worth a visit, as is the walled kitchen garden, brimming with seasonal produce for the Stables Café.Out in the parkland, there are woodland walks, acres of tenanted farmland (home to their tenant farmers Exmoor Horn sheep). WALKING WITH CAMERASWalking with Cameras is a two-year project that will provide over 40 innovative photo-walks for people in Exeter and the surrounding regions. This photo-walks programme will provide an alternative means of social interaction, healthy activity, creative engagement, and it will provide participants with the opportunity to visit and photograph a range of inspiring locations for 3-4 hours, where they can create their own images or take part in a photographic tasks.The locations in this project will be varied, but will include forests and woodlands, wetlands, local urban areas, country parks, country houses and local historical landmarks. This project is open to all adult communities across the City of Exeter and Devon, with a special focus for people who have experienced or are currently experiencing mental health issue, for those in the community who are experiencing social isolation and for people who are affected by a disability or are using a wheelchair.This project has been funded by The National Lottery Awards for All England Programme and it will enable participants to create their own photo-story, build a portfolio of images and take part in a fun and creative activity.NON DISCRIMINATION STATEMENTWe ask everyone who attends our photo-walk to be respectful of each other and the facilitator.Meridian Raw CIO is committed to ensuring an environment that is free of discrimination and fostering a climate in which all participants may take part and feel safe.
