Touch and Go”
A day of yoga with a Rolfing perspective with Tara Fraser
Fascia is the ‘organ of perception’, we know where we are in the
world because of the way we feel and paying attention to the role of
fascia in building our world view is the aim of this day. Of course
this is nothing new for Yogis! Yoga has always been deeply entrenched
in the capacity for building wider self awareness through the felt
sense of the body. Rolfing and modern fascial research help us to
understand these ideas from a different perspective and lend a new
lens through which to view the practice of asana.
Dr Ida Rolf was a key figure in the development of understanding the
true role of fascia. She was a biochemist who was practicing yoga
herself and beginning to connect how things felt with what she knew
about this important connective tissue in the body.
We will do a combination of traditional yoga asanas and other fascia
‘release’ or manipulation exercises. You may discover that some
characteristics of your body are more changeable than you previously
thought and you may enjoy some new found freedom to move more fully,
deeply or sensitively in your yoga practice. It is accessible and
adaptable work, open to all comers and levels of experience, skill and
athleticism.

Tara Fraser has been teaching Yoga for over 30 years and studying
Rolfing for nearly a decade.
