We will cover common species of trees that are used for lumber, including maple, oak, birch, and pine.  You will learn leaf shapes, bark textures, and how to use clues from the habitat to determine which species of tree you are looking at.  We will also discuss characteristics of the lumber that comes from each of the species we learn to identify.
