- **Event Description**: We’re excited to have local birder Paul Sagar join us for an Eco Talk sharing stories from his trips to New Zealand’s remote Subantarctic Islands, where he has taken part in bird counts and experienced some truly incredible wildlife.

From the Snares and Auckland Islands to Campbell and the Antipodes, these remote islands are home to an extraordinary range of seabirds and rare endemic species. New Zealand’s Subantarctic region has more than 40 breeding seabird species, including numerous albatrosses, petrels and penguins. 

Paul will share his experiences of getting out into these wild and challenging environments, counting birds and seeing species that many of us will only ever encounter in photographs. Some of these birds are found nowhere else in the world, making the Subantarctic Islands an incredibly important refuge for New Zealand's wildlife. 

Come along for an evening of bird stories, remote islands and some of New Zealand's most remarkable wildlife!
