MW Wiffle Ball Tournament Coupon Book

Each team receives one coupon book containing the following six coupons. Coupons add a strategic element to Pool Play and can dramatically change the outcome of a game when used at the right time.

⸻

1. Grand Theft Out ?

Steal an Out

* Remove one out from your team’s current offensive half-inning and add it to your opponent’s next offensive half-inning.
* Example: Your team has 2 outs. You play the coupon and return to 1 out. Your opponent will begin their next offensive inning with 1 out already recorded.

⸻

2. Mulligan ?

Do-Over

* Replay any at-bat after making an out.
* Must be declared immediately after the out is recorded.
* The original result is erased and the batter receives a new at-bat.

⸻

3. Automatic Single ?

Free Runner

* Place a ghost runner on first base before an at-bat begins.
* May be used at any point during your offensive half-inning.

⸻

4. Two-Strike Pressure ⚾

Everyone Starts Behind

* For one full opposing offensive inning, every batter begins their at-bat with a 1-2 count.
* Applies to all batters during that inning.
* Must be declared before the first batter of the inning.

⸻

5. Anchor Foot ⚓

Plant Your Foot

* Choose one opposing fielder.
* For one full inning, that fielder must keep one foot anchored in place once the pitcher steps onto the rubber and is ready to deliver the pitch.
* The anchored foot may pivot but cannot be lifted or moved until the play is over.
* Between batters, the fielder may reposition anywhere on the field and establish a new anchor point.
* The fielder may still catch, throw, and reach as long as the anchored foot remains planted during the play.

⸻

6. Opposite-Handed ?

Wrong Side of the Plate

* Choose one opposing batter.
* That batter must hit from the opposite side of the plate for that at-bat only.
* The coupon must be declared before the first pitch of the at-bat.

⸻

Coupon Rules

* Each team receives one coupon book containing all six coupons.
* Each coupon may be used once during Pool Play.
* Coupons may be used in any pool play game and do not have to all be used in the same game.
* Any coupon not used during Pool Play is forfeited and may not be carried into Bracket Play.
* All coupons expire at the conclusion of Pool Play.
* Coupons must be announced before the applicable pitch, batter, or inning begins.
* Only one coupon may be active at a time.
* Once a coupon is declared, it cannot be withdrawn.
* Tournament officials have final discretion regarding all coupon-related rulings and disputes.

Strategy Tip

Pool Play is not just about wins and losses. Teams must decide when to use their coupons, balancing the need to secure victories with the risk of holding onto a powerful coupon for too long and losing it when Bracket Play begins. ?⚾??
