SALZICA stands for South Alabama Zine, Illustration, and Comic Arts Club. It’s a space for folks to come together to make zines, comics, illustrations, and other 2D visual-art–adjacent media. Whether you’re brand new or already experienced, this is a chill, skill-sharing, and creation focused environment—artists with experience will be around to help if wanted.

How do I join?

Just show up! Come by on the day of the meetup at the scheduled time—we’ll be there.

What should I bring?

Whatever you’d like to use to make your zine, comic, lino print, or illustration.

What if I don’t have supplies?

No worries at all! We’ll have basic supplies available, and we also collect donated materials in a resource box at Art Meets for folks to use for free.

What kind of supplies do y’all accept for donation?

Here’s a list of helpful donations (new or gently used):

Long-neck / booklet staplers
Staple removers
Glue sticks
Sharpies (any kind)
White-out (tape or pens)
Tape (washi, paper, or plain)
Paper (copy, craft, patterned, colored, specialty, plain)
Scissors (precision, craft, safety w/ sheaths)
Markers (alcohol, watercolor, paint)
Pencils & pens (any kind)
Stickers
Stamps & ink pads
Hole punches
Measuring tools (rulers, guides, protectors)
Paper trimmers
Print media (magazines, newspapers, catalogs—items often tossed due to tears or missing pages; no personal information)
Other craft supplies

Can I donate money instead of supplies?

Absolutely! If you’d like your donation to go specifically toward SALZICA, just note that when donating through our MAm Zeffy account or let us know in person. https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donate-to-help-us-foster-creativity-community-and-growth

What happens to excess supplies?

If there’s no immediate need, we store them and then bring them out for meet ups and supply swap events throughout the year.
