In this two-day class you will design and then create 4 separate glass panels to fit into an 11" lantern. You will be able to choose between a black or white lantern. There will be some ideas and inspiration provided for your glass designs, but ultimately you can make whatever you can imagine!
This class will include cutting glass, shaping glass on a grinder, and using various techniques such as making frit and manipulating stringers to create various images. This workshop is not for the faint of heart; though it is beginner-friendly it will be a longer workshop than most, but the results will be well worth it.
No experience is required; all tools, materials, and equipment will be supplied.
Session 1: Thursday November 13, 6:00PM to 9:00PM
Introduction to fused glass: standard fusing techniques
Session 2: Thursday November 20, 6:00PM to 9:00PM
Kiln forming: technique-specific class
For safety reasons, long pants and closed toe shoes must be worn. Please be aware that grinders will be used in this class, making noise that some participants find uncomfortable. Limited noise protection will be available, and participants are encouraged to bring their own protection for maximum comfort.
After the workshop the glass will be kiln-fired and assembled. You will be able to pick up your finished artwork at the Canvas & Clay storefront.
