Join local naturalist Chris Durdin for a guided walk through this special reserve, a landscape of grazed and ungrazed marshes, meandering ditches, and the open waters of St Andrew’s Broad.Bring your binoculars and camera if you have them, to make the most of this wildlife haven.In winter, look out for waterbirds such as gadwall, tufted duck, and pochard.In spring and summer, great crested grebes breed, common terns dive for fish, and the scrub comes alive with birdsong. The elusive Cetti’s warbler can be heard all year.In summer, the skies fill with swallows, house martins, and swifts feeding before their migration to Africa.Whether you’re a keen birder, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking to enjoy a peaceful walk in a beautiful urban setting, this event offers a wonderful way to connect with local wildlife.Sturdy, waterproof footwear or wellies are recommended.Meet at the pedestrian railway bridge at the end of Whitlingham Lane, NR7 0QA, which is accessed from the A1242 Yarmouth Road (not from Trowse) and is diagonally opposite Thunder Lane.
