This is not just any backcountry trip. It is a challenge designed by and for the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) community.

Led by a T1D Wilderness First Responder and joined by a full crew of T1D adventurers, you will share the trail, the triumphs, and the unique experience of managing diabetes in the wild. Together, we will paddle hard, portage strong, and prove that T1D does not define our limits. It sharpens our resilience.

When: August 22 - 27, 2026

Where: Temagami, ON

Who This Trip Is For

This adventure is open to strong teens and adults with T1D who are physically fit and ready for a rewarding challenge.

Participants should be able to carry up to 30% of their body weight in a pack across portages and be prepared for the physical demands of wilderness travel.

If you are willing to work hard, embrace the elements, and push through physical challenges to experience incredible backcountry rewards, this trip is for you.

There will be separate gender-based sleeping accommodations. If you have any concerns or specific needs, please let us know. We are committed to ensuring everyone is aptly accommodated.
