Dr. Cable received his doctorate from Florida States University and leads classes in the History Department at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton.

In the 1930s and 1940s — amid depression and war — hundreds of Georgians joined planned farming communities. Dr. Cable will give an overview of resettlement communities run by the federal government, including Irwinville (Irwin County), Wolf Creek (Grady County), and the all-African American Flint River Farms project (Macon County) as well as non-government farming communities like Koinonia (Sumter County) and the Monastery of the Holy Spirit (Rockdale County).

This program is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch; light refreshments will be provided.
