How do I become an FRk member? Just sign up for the Non-Member ticket on this trip and a membership is included for free!Can I rent a canoe/kayak/paddle/etc? Yes! Equipment rentals are an add-on option to your ticket. What is the difference in Saturday and Sunday? Saturday we will paddle 4 miles in class 1-2 water and this trip is appropriate for new paddlers or those preferring to stay in calmer waters. On Sunday we will traverse Yellow Jacket Shoals adding an additional 2 miles to the trip and class 2-3 water. This trip is designed for paddlers with more experience and able to spend a full day on the river.Am I experienced enough for Sunday? If you are physically strong enough to control your kayak, have paddled in shoals and rapids before, and can spend a full day on the river you are likely experienced enough for Sunday. Still not sure? Email henry@flintriverkeeper.org.What if the trip gets cancelled? This is rare but it happens and spring weather can be unpredictable. All reasonable efforts will be made by FRk staff to give 24 hours notice of a cancellation. Will we see Shoal Spider Lilies? Traditionally the lilies are blooming well by Mother's Day but this is subject to the flows and weather conditions of the year. We can not guarantee the peak of the bloom will not occur before or after the scheduled dates.What should I bring/wear? Dress for the weather and avoid cotton. Sunglasses and hats are important. Sun protective clothing is highly recommended. Secure fitting shoes are required (no flip flops). A small soft-sided cooler with snacks, lunch, and drinks is a great idea. A roll-top dry bag to secure and protect your belongings is important. Do not get on the river without your rescue inhaler, epi-pen, nitro, or any other emergency Medic*tion and please notify FRk staff of these medications and where they are stored. Can I drink/vape/smoke? Intoxicants of any kind are not allowed prior to, or during, the trip. Violation of this rule will result in immediate expulsion from the trip and a lifetime ban. Vaping and smoking is discouraged and must be done in a manner that does not impact others/environment. Can my dog/cat/opossum come? We get it. We love our pets too. But, critters and pets are not allowed on Flint Riverkeeper trips. Where do we start/end?
