Mike has had quite the time and has been in and out of the hospital the last few weeks. We quickly learned that he had a fistula that requires a stent.. or as I told him a tire plug and then got another tire plug put in for his fistula as he was aspirating into his lungs. 

The last 9 months Mike has been fighting a tumor that has now created this fistula. 

After being readmitted and spending more time in the hospital. We as a whole made the decision it was time to talk about different options as I'm sure you all are aware of how patient he was just sitting around on his ass. 

Paletive care came in and gave us a consultation. Where basically he would be in and out of the hospital and we all knew that would go over like a turd in a punch bowl. 

We then had a consultation with hospice and after hearing all the information that was decided that was his best route. Now I know... When you hear hospice you automatically think the absolute worst. WE ARE NOT THERE YET. With hospice he can rest at home. It's like A whole hospital room is set up and care comes directly to his home. If he has good days he can go out and about. He can go OUTSIDE. He can go for rides, etc and live his life outside the walls of Carle Hospital. He has every single thing medical wise you can think of. And he seems MUCH happier.
