The Southland Dixie Stompers were formed in early 2022. Made up of six musicians all steeped in the traditions of early jazz, these six players came together solely for the joy of playing with other players who love this music. All the music is improvised, based on the styles of music from the earliest days of jazz. Most of the Stompers’ fare will be familiar to people "of a certain age," but it remains popular across the age spectrum. Exciting music is exciting music, no matter the genre, and audiences of all ages respond enthusiastically to what the Stompers have to offer.

The players include Lew Buckley, cornet and leader; Tom Benner, clarinet; Tony Brown, trombone; Dan Howard, sousaphone; Dave Flanigan, piano; and Rod Jacobs, drums and business manager. Featuring Billie Thatcher on vocals.

This Jazz Lovers’ Club event is for residents of The Villages and guests with a visitor pass. Doors open at 5:30pm. We have seating with tables and chairs, and you may bring your own beverage and snacks. Admission is $15 for members or $20 for non-members. Annual club membership is only $10. No reservations required. Pay at the door.
