We step back in Derbyshire history on this tour to a time when travelling around the Peak District wasn’t quite so easy and you literally diced with death!
Our twin shared accommodation is in the centre of Eyam - a beautiful village known as The Plague Village where in 1612 the first case of bubonic plague was found here in Derbyshire … and the story of the families and what they endured is truly amazing. You’ll have time to explore the village, see the plague cottages, the boundary stone and it’s importance and visit the graves outside of the village boundaries.
It was outside the villages that life was threatened by gangs of robbers and highwaymen - and we will hear their stories and visit the places they were known to frequent- both when alive, and dead.
The goals were always full in the bigger towns - and we will visit one over the weekend.
But death was not always a perpetrated act - an act of love sometimes was the reason. We’ll walk to Lovers Leap and hear some of the tragic stories about what occurred there in the name of love.
Our weekend wont be totally overtaken by dark pursuits - as we will enjoy lots of biker banter, full English breakfasts and I’ll buy the first round 🤩👍🏻
We’ll meet at Matlock Bath on the Friday for a stands up time of 1000hrs.
Just £100 deposit for this one please.
