De Codarts bigband, opgericht door Bob Brookmeyer en Ab Schaap, staat alweer ruim 15 jaar onder leiding van Ilja Reijngoud. In de band zitten de internationale talenten van het Rotterdams Conservatorium. In de afgelopen decennia is de band vaste gast geweest op het North Sea Jazz Festival, heeft het gespeeld in binnen- en buitenland, en heeft met de meest uiteenlopende gastsolisten gewerkt, onder anderen Rick Margitza, Nelson Faria, Bert Joris en Maria Schneider. De Codarts bigband staat bekend om zijn grensoverschrijdend repertoire. Zo speelt de band niet alleen jazz, maar ook Latin, Flamenco, Avant Garde, Syrische en Indiase muziek. 

Ilja Reijngoud en Nils zijn beiden al decennialang verbonden aan Codarts. Ze zijn elkaar als muzikant voor het eerst tegengekomen in The Dutch Jazz Orchestra. Nils zal een aantal stukken uit het repertoire van dit gerenommeerde orkest gaan spelen, waaronder composities van Rob Madna en Ab Schaap
