About the event

The Hairy Roubaix
Gravel Camp and the Hairy Roubaix have combined to bring you one amazing event!

Join Cardinal Bicycle and Bedford County Parks and Rec for a day of great riding to support a great cause--the Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter! This is not a race—just a fun supported ride. We have options for all riders—from beginners who want to try gravel, to advanced riders looking for a challenge. E-Bikes welcomed!

The Venue:

Peaks Retreat and Adventure Center has direct access to the best gravel in Bedford County. They are not usually open to the public, so this is a prime opportunity to explore Bedford County Gravel from this starting point.

We will have indoor registration and post-ride lunch--a cozy spot to warm up or cool off!

The Routes:

11-Mile Gravel Route: This is the most beginner-friendly gravel route you can find in the region! But gravel is inherently challenging, and so is this 11-mile ride. Riders should be comfortable with rides of 1.5 to 2 hours with some climbing. The route is almost entirely unpaved and will have one aid station where you can grab some snacks and hydration.

28-mile Gravel Route: This route travels through rolling farmland, sticking mostly to the smaller climbs (but there is still climbing for sure). This makes for a super enjoyable 28-mile gravel cruise. This ride is a mix of pavement and gravel, and it will have two aid stations.

56-mile Gravel Route: This big ride starts out with some big climbs. After enjoying epic mountain views, you will descend back to the start and then head out into the valley through scenic rolling farmland.

21-Mile Road Ride: This is a beautiful rolling route through scenic farmland. There will be a few sections of smooth gravel.

The roads are open to traffic, and all Virginia traffic laws must be followed at all times for your safety and the safety of others.
