First, you will be shown how to stretch silk onto a frame, then, using a template provided (or bring your own), use gutta to draw the design. 

Once dry, you will learn how to blend the silk paints to complete your design. There will also be time to complete a pre-outlined silk during the session.

What to expect: Perfect for those will some previous experience working with silk paint, you will complete an artwork inspired by summer themes. First Helen will show you how to stretch silk onto a frame, then using a template provided (or bring your own), use gutta to draw the design. Once dry, you will develop your skills, learning how to blend the silk paints to complete your design. There will also be time to complete a pre-outlined silk during the session.

Who is your tutor: Helen Mortimer is an artist specialising in paintings on silk, inspired by her travels abroad. She exhibits annually at Open Studios in both West Berkshire & Hampshire. She also creates silk scarves, using Shibori designs, shown at craft fairs & exhibitions with Made in the Hood - a local craft group. She teaches art & craft to various groups in the community: at The Base, the Corn Exchange & Day Centres.
