- **Event Description**: Autistic people can be over or under sensitive to different sensory experiences, and their sensitivities can fluctuate based on their mood, environment, support, etc.  Our brains interpret sensory information from eight different senses, telling us how we feel and react to our environments and sensations. 

When people are over (or hyper) sensitive, they may avoid or become overwhelmed by sensory input.  Being under (or hypo) sensitive, people do not always recognise sensory input so can seek it out.  Our responses can be different for different senses.

In this practical and accessible webinar, we will cover what we can do in different environments to help to manage sensory input in appropriate ways for individual learners in schools and other locations.

The session will be led by experienced members of staff from Prior's Court's Therapies team.

The webinar may cover:
• What are our senses and why does this impact autistic people.
• How we can reduce overwhelming sensory input.
• Ideas on how to provide sensory regulation tools and/or breaks.
• Supporting sensory seeking behaviours.

But the content will be led by questions submitted at the sign-up stage.

• Teachers and other school staff who work with SEN in both mainsteam and special schools.
• Parents and carers of autistic young people with complex needs.
• Anyone supporting autistic young people with complex needs.
